Basic Trouble Shooting

A list of common issues with the AH2 Hydraulic Steering System, and their solutions.

Unit Turns Opposite of Requested Command

If the vehicle turns the wrong direction (left, when it needs to go right for instance), the connectors for the valve and installed backwards (see photo below).

Solution:

Swap the connectors from left to right and vice versa. The connectors MUST ALWAYS HAVE CABLES FACING OUTWARD.

Steering Test is "Normal" But system responds slowly.

Solution:

Increase tuning parameter 1 up to 700 or 800.

Check if the valve is appropriate for the application; There is a 30L and a 60L valve. Larger tractors, such as 4WDs and large FWAs should have the 60L valve fitted.

Check whether the bolt #9 in the following picture is tight.

When Using 30L Valve, the Steering Wheel is Locked

Solution:

Check the voltage at the connector P on the proportional valve cable. If autosteering is on, it should be 12V; if the autosteering is off, it should be 0V.

If the voltage is wrong, cross check the terminal and the cables.

If the voltage is correct, check the installation of the valve.

When Doing a Steering Test, Front Wheels Hardly Move (Or Don't Move)

Solution:

Check the installation of the valve, especially port LS and port P.

Check if there is any leak.

Check whether the connection is correct or not. Open center needs OC connection, closed center needs CC connection. Please check the installation manual for details.
